Description

Hoyt Fuller, WSU alumnus (1950) and Black rights activist, wrote for and edited numerous publications throughout his life, including the Detroit Tribune, Michigan Chronicle, and Ebony. Fuller spent time living in both Europe and Africa, and returned to the United States with a newfound vision for Black freedom. Rather than fight against white oppression, Fuller sought to bolster Black identity and culture. Fuller was founder and longtime editor of the journals Negro Digest (later Black World), which served as important publication venues for many Black Arts Movement writers in the 1960s and 70s.

The Institute of Positive Education is a Southside Chicago organization that promotes African-centered education.
