Roy Reuther: A Brotherly Spirit and Shrewd Mind

An Impactful Life

Beyond his professional life, Roy Reuther left his mark on the world through his dedication to family and friends. With his loving wife Fania, they had two sons, David and Alan. His kindness and buoyant spirit complimented his passion, and he brightened the lives of those around him.

Sadly, Roy Reuther died of a heart attack on January 10, 1968, at only 58 years of age. His involvement in union movements of the 20th century were pivotal to political and social gains for workers' rights in the United States. The archival artifacts in this exhibit cover only a fraction of his activities. Still, they demonstrate his passion and enthusiasm for promoting an equal society, a legacy that continues in today's union movement.
